My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
I’m also LOVING this feature… I become so, so overwhelmed with fabrics… I usually find one with a pattern that I love, and I can find a matching solid, but trying to find additional patterned fabrics to compliment… uh… I have a really hard time, like I become panicky! Seriously! 🙂 Anyhow, if you are looking for some suggestions for a future feature… may I present the following fabrics (follow the link):
http://www.tonicliving.com/productsdetails.asp?productid=2028 “joy, pearl” (this one I was contemplating for a back, sunny room with walls of Benjamin Moore’s ‘woodlawn blue’….and well again… what the hell goes with this kind of geometric pattern?!
Then there is: http://www.tonicliving.com/productsdetails.asp?productid=1125 “Chelsea, cloud” … for bedroom window panels… but if one were to match a duvet, pillows, chair, what other patterns would merry nicely?
Oh geez, I am overwhelmed again…. haha… gotta go 🙂
Ooh I love this one (

LOVE # 2!

Lilac and Grey
What a beautiful palette! I love the repeating arabesque shapes, and love that border trim you found – Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.
Love this feature! It’s so fun to see where you go with these fabrics. I hope I’m learning a little along the way, too…. I’m wondering what you would do with Kravet’s Jellybean 1635 large-scale floral (http://www.kravet.com/search/fabdetail.asp?Code=FAB&Cat=PRI-Print&Price=All&x=18&y=31&Page=3&pat=JELLYBEAN&clr=1635). I love the grays and aquas, but would like to add another (non-neutral) color to the mix.
What would you do with this fabric: Robert Allen Kiki Pinata (http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=73aecac7-4efe-45fd-b8a1-e9b404ab7ea8)? I have this in a valance and one throw pillow, but now what? Thanks!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog and style!
I LOVE Malino – I have it on my chairs.
Laura Ashley Tilbury Lapis, http://search.kravet.com/CoverInformation.aspx?SKU=LA1317.503&Catalog=400, or any ikat!
I have a hard time figuring out what other patterns can compliment ikat without going too overboard. Could chinoserie and ikat ever work together in one room? I love these posts, better than House Beautiful Instant Room!
Thanks so much for choosing my fabric suggestion! I LOVE what you’ve come up with, and I can’t wait to order the fabrics and start sewing some pillows. I’m already looking forward to the gorgeous combinations I’m sure you’ll come up with for next week!
First off love this feature on the blog…I just had two chairs recovered in this pictured fabric (see link) that is on the shown pillow…

I now need to pick out fabric for drapery panels and I need pillows for our neutral couch…a rug is on its way that is a grey/tan natural shade. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!
Can’t wait to see next weeks post!
