Style Plan: Global Regency
Lately I’ve found myself drawn to global interiors. I’m loving hand-printed fabrics and natural textures yet I’m still drawn to all of my old favorites like Hollywood Regency aka anything with greek key as Jon likes to note. 🙂
This latest e-decorating client was a dream, because she was on the same page as me.
We used her suzani table overlay as our inspiration. We injected some global vibes in our rug and lighting choices along with textured grasscloth covered walls and ikat chevron fabric for drapes. To add a touch of Hollywood regency I recommended high-gloss bamboo chairs covered in a small leopard pattern! Plus a DIY server project where a basic thrift store find will get a dose of high gloss paint and trimmed out in gold paint!
My favorite pieces from the design has to be the chandelier that is made out of abalone shells.
It’s the show stopper of the room!

ON THE BLOG
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
That chandelier is incredible!

Global Regency! I love it! I’m in exactly the same boat–love both. I’m working on a project (small tiny cottage on the usual tight budget). But I’m trying to chooses sides. Specifically, does the greek key on the hem of two club chairs mean we need to lose the ikat pillows and brick layers table? But no, The Fab Camila has shown me one can meld these two very disparate styles. Mmwah!
