Trends: Baby got back

  1. This is not new in Dallas. Quite a few of the accent chairs we designed for the showroom (Dallas Market Center) had different fabric on the inside back and outside back for several years now. The designers wanted to show their clients that they didn’t have to go with a chair that was all one fabric. It makes your chair different and ‘special’. We’ve used everything from cow or deer hide to silk to burned velvet.

Love the trend, but I’m with you on the expense of a trendy accent chair. One question- anyone know where I can find an (affordable) version of that large-scale zebra print in the third picture down? I’m actually trying to recreate the chair but all of the zebra print I can find is the wrong scale. Thanks!

  3. Jenny says:

Wow, I love that! So fun!

    Such a fun surprise!!

  7. I love it! I just posted about some chairs I did with contrasting backs. It’s such a fun way to add more pattern! I hear you about the big investment though! I like the new colored leather too…I would take a navy! So fun to see!

  8. well I’m glad to know I’m “on trend” with what I’m doing for my Loius style dining chairs! Kidding…I’m with you. I don’t feel like this is actually all that new. We’ve been seeing this for a few years now at least. I’m a fan but I prefer the pattern on the back.

  9. Ali says:

Thanks for sharing all the trends from high point. I love seeing the latest and newest things going on in the design world and for someone who couldn’t go this info is great!

  10. I love a great accent chair – the zebra was my favorite and could be used in so many rooms including a great entry!

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details.
