Today I will be wrapping up my High Point market trend round up. I hope you all enjoyed a peek into the experience. It was a great trip. I didn’t realize how much gain from the trip till I actually got there. It was wonderful to talk with others in the field, see close friends that I don’t get to see that often, find lots of new vendors and get totally refreshed design wise. I came home with my creative juices flowing.
One of the trends that I saw in all of the showrooms was super-sizing.
Take a peek:
{Extra-large buffalo check made my heart pitter patter. In the C R Laine showroom even the accessories were extra-large. Check out those ants.}
{The Hickory Chair showroom had this extra-large bloom that looks like a super easy DIY project.}
{Super-sized wing chairs were also all the rage. My favorite had to be this number designed by my pal, Lauren of Pure Style Home. It will be available in her online shop soon!}
{Scientific charts are still popular. I would go to town at Vintage Printable and get some prints super-sized at Kinkos.}
I have some large artwork but that’s about it- love the supersized trend- espcially those exaggerated wing chairs- so fabulous. Also love love the large scale textiles.
Any idea where to get giant artwork like that? I’d love a large black & white map of Europe or something, or even a huge photo of my favorite travel spot. These seem to be hard to source.
I will look into the to the trade vendors and see if they have anything like that. I saw a lot of maps, with it was mainly a large map cut up into smaller frames. I recently had luck with a clients room where we found a map in digital form online. It was a free download! We were then able to send it to Kinkos and have it expanded to the size we needed. It takes up a massive wall! It looks amazing and it cost us dollars to do. I’m hopefully getting pictures of her space done this month so I can share with all!
Love this trend and that black plaid wing chair!!
I have a 30×40 canvas that I bought on sale at Micheal’s and let my 2 year old paint (in black and gray). I then went over it with some blue and white paint and a stiff brush. I LOVE this piece it’s so personal and looks stunning in person. It hangs right now over our 10 month old’s crib. It was such a cheap and easy project but has so much impact! You can see it here: http://katiewaddell.blogspot.com/p/house-tour.html
I love oversized art! And I am really loving the giant print on that wingback. And the chinoiserie painting too. So much eyecandy.
I would love to try to meet up some time. I’m about 45 minutes north of the city. I’m not sure how this week is going to go with my mom, but I go down often. I have to tell you i am dying over your blog design. The colors are terrific!

We have two pieces of supersized art in our living/dining area…enough that my husband told me I had to scale it back the next time we buy something. We have a giant hippo woodblock print behind the sofa and a big, big oil painting of a woman at the Pompidou art museum. Now I want to go enlarge everything I can at Kinkos!
So let me get this straight: you actually took photos of MY designs and encouraged readers to copy? I’m not sure if you quite understand the plight of the American designer and perhaps it’s time your learned. We battle EVERY day with this issue. The Chinese and Indians are eating our lunch on a paper bank note. In the future, PLEASE remember to direct your readers to us for replication of our designs or theirs. It’s actually something we do very often and MUCH cheaper than “Kinkos”! You do your readers and myself a disservice by acting in such an uninformed manner.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]

Loving the supersized prints, but I’m not too sure about the supersize Ant…. large insects in the home are a no no for me.
Ha ha I agree. Huge ants are a big no-no. They did look cute though.
How fun everything looks!
I love that red gingham ottoman and the black plaid chair! Gorgeous!

I love seeing all the different things all my designer buddies were inspired by! Almost like I got to go….kinda next time for sure!
