  1. Drew says:

    Those colors are FABULOUS!!!

  2. im glad you gave yourself a breather 🙂 in my giant family… i am not ms. stewart, but in my little family of the mister and i (plus our wonderful friends) i definitely like to pretend to be 🙂

  3. shawna says:

I am that Martha of our family… wioth my in-laws anyway. Hosted two back to back brunches this weekend and even though it was very simple stuff, my guests were impressed!

  4. Camila- I was a guest, too. But since I was STAYING at my sister’s house I did go Martha by making homemade rolls and brownie bites with homemade marshmallow fondant flowers in the morning before I handed the kitchen over to her.

Then I just played with my nephews till the guests arrived!

    Happy Easter to your family!

I guess I’m the Martha. We hosted Easter, and I went all out with the decorations and food. My SIL is equally crafty, but doesn’t bake or cook. It’s nice to take a breather every now and again, though. Glad you could abdicate the Martha duties. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Good for you! I typically do the party planning, but this year my sister-in-law did it all! It was great and everyone had a wonderful time.

Good to hear you took a moment for yourself. Sometimes doing nothing is the best reward.

  7. I’m definitely the Martha of our family, but I think we all have our own Martha tendencies. 🙂
This year, we met a weekend early for Easter. This was the first holiday that my husband and I have ever spent alone, not traveling to family’s house. It was surprisingly nice and relaxing. 🙂 Glad you got to take it easy too!

  8. Megan says:

I totally know what you mean. My parents hosted Easter and I promised to decorate, set up a basketball hoop, and bring an appetizer & dessert (I made mac n cheese cupcakes and cake pops). I cant seem to take the easy route and just make a boxed cake or brownies. Needless to say my husband and I were overwhelmed and ready to kill each other. I may have to relinquish Martha duties in upcoming years.

  9. Coco says:

Super cute table setting! I hosted a spring party on a budget. Super fun! Happy Spring to you!

  10. How nice to take a break! My Mom is usually the “Martha” in the family, and I am the assistant 🙂

  11. kayce hughes says:

Sounds like yours. Had people over for lunch. we grabbed pizza from whole foods and everyone grabbed plates from the shelves. It can be fun to be Martha or Mary.

  12. kelley says:

you did nothing–that is crazy talk. truly i am the same way. was unhappy that i did not have a super cute Easter table this weekend. told my husband that i need to get better at my tablescape skills!

  13. JEN RAMOS says:

The weekend was so nice ….the weather was perfect. Attended church and saw a couple of my friends as well :))) Glad you had a nice Easter!

  14. I do all the holidays. Yes, every one. But it is time for that to change. I love it, but it is getting to be too much. Still we had a lovely weekend.

  15. Anne-Marie says:

Yes, I’m the Martha! I made 34 linen napkins for our family dinner this weekend, then hosted 🙂 Taking next year off 🙂 Glad you took the needed break.

  16. Kathysue says:

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]

The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]

new-farrow-and-ball-paint-color-picks-for-my-house

Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]

What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
