The Other Woman

  1. Emily says:

    Definitely get it!

  2. Heidi says:

Sometimes you just have to pull the trigger. If you truly love her, you’ll never forget that piece and be kicking yourself for years. I say do it!

  3. i think it’s gorgeous and you should get it! you’ll be much happier years from now buying the one you love vs. buying the one that is $50 less!

  4. Totally gorgeous and yes you should! Funny thing is, that portrait would fit into inspiration room, too! Do you know anything about that gorgeous fabric on the roman shades?

  5. hamptontoes says:

Definitely go for it! She is fabulous! You will always smile when you look at that painting…it’s something you’ve wanted for quite some time, “she” reminds you of a favorite movie of yours, her top is a deep rich orange and looks like it will look fabulous in any of your interior spaces! I’m a huge fan of original pieces of artwork.

  6. laxsupermom says:

Love the painting! Her smile is just right. Ouch on the price, though. That’d be 1 week of summer day camp for 1 kid. That’s how I’m measuring the like-to-haves right now. So figure out what the equivelant is in your life, and decide if you love it an equivelant amount.

  7. Stephanie says:

Ooooh very cool. I also love that movie!!

  8. Tonya says:

It is perfect. Her dress is your favorite color:) and she looks like she could be related to you. Pull the plug and buy it.

  9. I too enjoy a great painting of a woman, but to me a man is just that much better. I recently scored an awesome framed painting of a matador at a roadside antique shop for only ten bucks. You can see it here:

So I’d say hold out a little longer for a better price- but then again I just love getting a bargain!

  10. Do it! She’s timeless and beautiful!

  11. Appletree says:

I respectfully disagree. I think it is weird to hang an oil portrait of someone you don’t know in your home. I know it is on trend, but I still find it strange.

  12. bri says:

I see quite a bit at the Flea but still pricey. I would keep looking or not, usually you find something you’ve been wanting when you’re not looking. I have never seen them at Goodwills but my bet is you can find one at an Estate Sale.

  13. Arielle says:

I say go for it. I always regret not buying an item when I finally find something I have been looking for a long time. Still kicking myself for not getting some sconces on One King’s Lane a few months ago . . .

  14. Have you tried Janet Hill Studio on Etsy? Her portraits give me the same retro chic feel.

  15. ann hooker says:

Nay…she looks like a little slutty! …how about holding out for something a little less smoldering. I find that old photographs of children from antique frames are just as atmosphere enhancing.

  16. Maddie says:

Ooooh I love this room!! I want my office to look like this one day.

  17. Julie says:

Personally, I think $200 is a little high. But if you really love it, you’ll always regret it! I know I always do when I miss out on something.

  18. Brigitte says:

You could always use an photo of a relative or someone you know. Make it look like an oil painting in Photoshop and have it printed on canvas.

  19. LOLA says:

Get the painting! Bargain for it if you have to. If you don’t get it, you will always wonder if THAT was the one that got away? And if in the long run you don’t like it…sell it on ebay and get another one!

  20. After having priced art for our home and finding nothing under $1000 that I want, I’d say she’s a bargain. There is a painting at my favorite antique mall of a very sophisticated looking woman that I’ve been dying to get, it’s a little out of my price range, but it would be a real conversation starter. Again, I say go for it-she’s kind of a hottie too.

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]

round up of budget friendly bar carts

Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]

For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
