This past weekend I had to head out of town for a quick business trip. Of course I couldn’t leave my two men behind so on Sunday we all headed out of town.
Hudson’s first plane trip!
Hudson was wonderful during the flight and enjoyed hanging out in his latest contraption:
A peek into our destination:
Our first stop was Navy Pier:
Where we had a little lunch:
And enjoyed the view:
After that we run off to check out Sears Tower which is now know as Willis Tower. Check out Hudson and Jon in the cool acrylic boxes they have that stick off of the building! Scary!
After that we ran to Lincoln Zoo where we checked out the lions, apes and zebras:
After all of that we were exhausted so we headed to the hotel. We couldn’t leave Chicago without indulging in some Chicago style deep dish pizza so we picked some up on our way to the hotel.
On Monday I headed off to my day of meetings where I got to hang out with my friend, Jenny and a couple other designer friends that I’ve always admired, but had never met before. Jon and Hudson hung out in the hotel and around town. During my meetings I took a moment to check my phone and saw that I had received this text:
Looks like Jon had to deal with a diaper situation that lead to Hudson being a bit naked in our rental car and needing an outfit change. 🙂
Last night we all headed back home. So happy to back in my comfy bed.
Awesome pics!!! Omg, looking at them in that box and seeing everything underneath gives me anxiety!!! I would freak out! lol. Your son is adorable btw! =)
oh and PS the acrylic boxes are called the “the ledge”. I’ve never experienced vertigo, but I did on those boxes…..eek!! I had feelings of throwing up hours after standing out there.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]

Thanks Christy! The box was scary. I eventually stepped out on it as well, but it took some convincing. 🙂
I’m with ya Christy! Total panic attack!
OMG I’m sorry but I have the CUTEST nephew in the world!!! His parents aren’t so bad either! 🙂
Ah! Those acrylic boxes are SO scary!! And yes, those “diaper situations” always have a way of happening on vacation! What a fun weekend!
