Hello All,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We spent the weekend recovering from a cold that has hit everyone in my house. My down time recuperating to give me the opportunity to download some images from my vacation so here a little sneak peek of where I went.
My parents were both born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. Their moms were actually best friends. How sweet is that? Lately they have been going back to visit once a year and we decided to tag along for this trip so that all of our extended family could meet Hudson!
Now I love visiting with family, but I must admit one of my favorites part of visiting Colombia is getting to get all dolled up. While Colombia can be a very expensive place when it comes to purchasing clothing it’s insanely affordable to get hair cuts, colors, manicures and blow outs.
My first stop from the airport was the salon where I got an amazing $4 manicure!
{They didn’t have the traditional brands that I’m use to so I used a new to me brand that is made in Colombia called Vogue. It was amazing and last the entire trip. I had to pick up a bottle for myself before I left. I have Neon Mango on my nails. }
The next day we started out our journey on a train ride:
Where enjoyed the beautiful view:
We stopped in a couple of towns like this one:
Where I spotted a fake donkey that Hudson had to take a picture on!
Hudson also got to meet up with my grandma:
{It was practically impossible to get a good shot of everyone actually looking at the camera and smiling, but this was the best one and I think it came out pretty good.}
Especially since we started out like this:
{Ha ha, my mom is going to kill me for posting this one. }
Hudson also got to meet a little friend called Emilio (Amazing name!)
I mean how cute are they?
We also visited a Salt Cathedral:
Hudson got in on the action and sat in some salt chunks:
In between visiting family and catching the sights we checked out one of the many malls in the area. My favorite store has to be a place called, CasaIdeas.
{It’s a mix between a Crate and Barrel, IKEA and Anthropologie all rolled into one that features home decor items.}
Here are some of my favorites:
Tablecloths:
{I’m still mad at myself for not snagging the floral one with the orange border.}
Bedding:
Colorful coverlets:
Kids corner:
It was pure heaven. I picked up a handful of toys for Hudson.
We then went on a short plane ride and finished our vacation visiting more family in Medellin. Where we visited some surrounding towns and went on a boat ride:
I spotted these beauties while in Medellin:
{So pretty. They were about $70 a piece and I wanted to bring them all home with me.}
Hudson also found out that he enjoyed hammocks:
{The lucky guy also got a mini hammock gifted to him from his grandparents. So now he can swing at home too.}
We took in more local sights:
I won’t bore you with anymore family pictures, but I hope enjoyed a little peek into where I was off too.
Hope you are all enjoying your summers as well.
Tomorrow we’ll be back to the word of interior design. 🙂
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
