{Pretty in Pink meets Bobo Glam board for NYDC}
This week I came up with a mood board full of goodies from The New York Design Center, because I’m one of their Blogger Ambassadors for their upcoming What’s New/What’s Next event.
I fell in love with this piece of art. Best parts it’s only $40, it’s massive in size, and it’s printed on canvas to make it look even better.
I have always wanted a fabric applique monogrammed pillow and at only $48 I just might pull the trigger and not feel guilty about picking up a “want” not “need” for the house.
I just ran out of thank you cards and I think these chic elephant notecards are going to be new ones. Love the color combo and classic font.
I didn’t want to like Devious Maids. I was actually kind of offended when it first came out. All of the main stars were Latina and as a Latina woman myself I should have been happy, but I hated that of course they had to hit a stereotype and be maids. Of course in watching the first episode to see what it was all about I got hooked and I’m finally letting you in on my guilty pleasure. It really hooks you.

ON THE BLOG
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

As a Latina, I had the same original thought, but the characters are more than one-dimensional domestic staff: they’re strong, smart, ambitious, vulnerable, and devious. And yes, it’s a soap, so it’s not going to be political, but since our kind has long been relegated to lines like “yes, ma’am” or being the fiery sexpot, I think it’s refreshing to have a variety of characters to show a small fraction of the breadth and richness of our culture and gender.
