Hope you all had a wonderful Labor day weekend. We had a really nice time enjoying the send off to summer and of course we are now left with a case of the blues. Please tell me I’m not the only one struggling with summer coming to close.
This weekend kicked off with me getting to have a little me time and try a new homemade mask that is part of a campaign I’m working on with Poland Springs. I would really appreciate you heading over to check out other ways that people celebrate naturally.
Friday evening we headed out to the beach for a little picnic and kite flying:
Saturday we were up bright and early thanks to Hudson’s little alarm clock. It seemed like everyone was out of town because the roads were empty and the home improvements stores were like a ghost town. We headed out to find some privacy screens for our garage cans.
Afterwards we were feeling oh so lame that we were going to work on house projects instead of having fun labor day plans so we left the projects aside and went into Brooklyn to go to a little BBQ and then headed into the Seaport for a bite at Smorgasbar by Brooklyn Flea.
The Seaport is now full of yummy pop up shops with loads of food and treats like Magnolia Bakery:
If you are in the area you simply must stop by and get yourself a Lizzmonade. It’s a customizable lemonade were you can pick from a variety of sweeteners or none at all and loads of fruit options to get mixed in.
Hudson enjoyed having one and doing cheers with his Aunt Ximena:
We also popped into a candy shop to pick up some sour belts which are a favorite in our household:
We ended the evening with picking up a super cool monkey balloon animal for Hudson and checking out the passing boats:
Sunday we had a family BBQ to attend so I put my cell away and tried to enjoy it and not snap constant pics, but I was able to get a family shot of us before the BBQ started:
On Monday we decided to host a little lunch at our house for our immediate family. The day was pretty gray and dreary, but we still enjoyed a nice meal.
One of perks of hosting is getting some pretty blooms from your Daddy:

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
