Ah Monday has come again way too quickly than I wanted.
Here is what we were up to this weekend:
We are finally getting a move on our deck. Took longer than expected, because the Summer just flew by and we never had time to work on. So, we decided instead of doing it ourselves we were going to hire it out and get it done now before the Winter so that it would be ready to enjoy come Spring.
Saturday was spent getting bids from contractors and then getting to work on some prep work like knocking out our back step.
{I love how they have matching diaper and boxers sticking out of their pants. So cute!}
They even build a temporary step for us until the new deck is built:
We continued to spend the rest of the day outside cleaning up the yard and getting the area ready for the new deck. Hudson passed out promptly at 7pm and I’m happy to report that by 7:30 I was already in bed myself catching up on Breaking Bad.
On Sunday Hudson woke up with a cold and wanted nothing more but to snuggle in bed. We spent a blissful morning in bed watching movies and napping!
{Jon loves being sneaking and taking pics of us when we sleep.}
Hudson was feeling a bit better in the afternoon and getting bored at home so we ventured out and installed some items in my parents office.
The office is already painted and has existing furniture that we needed to work with, but we decided to update the lighting, add a rug, new pillows, and zhush up the desk area a bit.
Here is the old lighting we were replacing:
I still remember picking out this light fixture when I was 12 years old. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing. I loved that the frosted pieces looked like they had black smoke coming up on them. Now I laugh everytime I see and remember how in love I was with it.
My mom is going to be the one that mainly uses the office so we went a bit more girly in the new fixture:
We got to lay out the new accent rug that I picked up for a steal!
It was a new purchase that ended up working perfectly with the fabric I had already picked out for the space months ago.
The day ended with some more napping and getting chores done like laundry which Hudson loves to help with. He is a pro at helping place clothes in the dryer.
{Scary view of laundry room that is next on the list for getting re-done.}

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
Looks like a great weekend other than the little guy not feeling well.
And I love the light fixture you chose for your mom’s office (obv, the new one). So pretty.
Have a great week!
