This year I was asked to partake in Del Mar’s Home for the Holidays Design Challenge! Del Mar sent me and 4 other bloggers a lamp from their site. I received Annaleigh by Kichler and was ask to design my entry way in the holiday spirit featuring this lamp.
Due to the colorful nature of my home I don’t tend to decorate in the typical green/red/gold holiday color story. For this spread though I did decide to inject little peeks of it.
Here is my take on a holiday entry way:
Now lets break it down. Since my lamp was almost 28″ high I wanted to make sure my decor wasn’t only on the entry way table, but went up on the wall.
Enter a boxwood wreath that was found at Trader Joe’s for only $10! I used some striped fabric to hang it.
Typically I have an ikat skirted bench underneath my DIY grasscloth covered console,but in order to inject a little holiday green into the space I swapped it out with my emerald painted trunk complete with a leopard cushion we added a while back to provide extra seating.
For the main area I decided to break the space into 3 different sections. My lamp and storage section, a floral centerpiece and a little injection of something different with my blue and white ginger jars.
View from above:
{ A trip to my local fabric shop and a yard of flannel shirt fabric helped tie everything together.}

{Love who the pattern in the lamp even reminds me of snowflakes and works perfectly with a wintery entry way, but will also look great year round.}
Close up of floral centerpiece:
{ I went with a candy cane inspired color story and even added little teeny tiny silver ball ornaments.}
I’m really happy with how the whole project turned out. It’s been quite the crowd favorite with visitors. Everyone has loved it!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
