Happy Monday and Happy Belated Birthday to this blog of mine! My first baby if you will. Earlier this month I celebrated 7 years of blogging. Crazy that what started out as a little hobby has turned into a career that keeps me super busy with a variety of things from brand consulting, sponsored content, freelance writing and my true love, interior design work. It’s been a wild ride and I’m so happy that some of you have been here since the very beginning! You all feel like old friends.
Make sure you play around the blog and see the new home for In her shoesposts (We are going to be featuring some ladies very soon!), DIY librarywere you can easily find our projects and our Little Black Bookof vendors that I have personally curated.
Along with the blog getting a new look my portfolio site is finally live!!! So when you head over to Effortless Style you can learn all about my design services, e-decorating, event styling. My portfolio is also live and many more projects will be added in the coming weeks including a full home tour of my house. Make sure you go over and play around and see all of the pretty design goodies that Katelyn Brooke beautiful executed! Seriously Kate is a dream to work with. With my busy schedule this whole new look took 2 years to accomplish and she was right there with me holding me hand and helping me figure out whatever crazy design idea popped into my head.
Barbara from Studio Bara Bomd esigned all of the beautiful graphics you see sprinkled throughout the site. I have been working with Barbara for years now. She is always my go-to person for invitations and now she is helping design a whole new branding and look for Hudson’s school. She is amazing!
Here is my initial moodboard for this project:
I think we did a pretty good of capturing the spirit of it! So, take some time to look around and check everything out. We are still tweaking things so if you see something that looks wonky please comment or email and let me know so that we can fix that.
Hope you enjoy the new look and that it’s easier to navigate and makes for a better reader experience.

ON THE BLOG
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
LOVE the new site! It looks so great! And congrats on 7 years.
