These past few years sleeping has a high commodity in this household. Our boys are pretty good sleepers, but they do tend to wake up in the middle night for a minute or two and when you go in to console one the other one is awake a minute later. The joys of them sharing a bedroom. By the time Jon and I get into bed the last thing we want to do is have to get out of bed for any reason.
Of course then we realize the light is still on and while it’s close to the bed you can’t reach the switch with your outreached arm. Normally Jon tries to grab some sort of magazine to extend his reach and switch it off. I know we are that lazy once we get into bed.
We have joked about getting a clapper for years now, but have never actually done it. The other day while roaming the aisles of Home Depot we both stopped at the section with all of the app enabled bulbs. Now most of them were really pricey and needed to have a hub as well, which we didn’t love. However the HomeBrite Smart Bulb was the most affordable one and it didn’t need a hub. It’s online for $15, but I think we paid $20 something in stores.
It’s really cool to use. You need to download their app and then simply switch out your old bulbs to their new bulbs. No extra hub required! Then you open the app so it can find the bulbs and link together and that’s it! You can now turn your lights on and off with the touch of your cell phone and you can even dim the bulbs. You can also put them on an alarm so they turn on and off at the same time everyday. This would also be great if you are on vacation and still want some lights on in your home. We just have them in our bedroom at the moment, but you can group your bulbs into different areas and have your whole 1st floor in one grouping or separate it all by room or specific fixture. Yes, I’m loving living with this Jetson’s like technology.
My fixture has two bulbs in it so I can only turn one bulb if I like:
Or turn both on:
Life changer! It’s such a silly thing to be happy about, but it’s great and we love it. Is it a must have? No, but if you have the same dilemma as us and get super lazy at night time that it’s a dream come true!
*This is not a sponsored post. Just a random purchase I made and loved. I always wondered how these bulbs worked and I figured you guys probably did as well so I wanted to share my experience.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
