This weekend was full of birthday parties! We started off our weekend with our usual gym time and the boys swim classes. Then our afternoon was spent at home hanging out with the boys because we were going out that evening.
My sister hosted a birthday dinner at her apartment and I was in charge of decorations and cake. So, we needed to make sure we left on time to get there and set everything up before the guests arrived.
Then we headed out to pick up the cake! I went with jet black frosting and mix of sprinkles! It was so different and fun.
Then it was time to get to work and set everything up! I went with a boho/glam/winter vibe for the decor. I used plaid fabric for a tablecloth, gold sequin runners, gold chargers, a variety of brass candlesticks and mercury glass with a mix of flowers.
A yummy spread of appetizers that my sister put together. She had these amazing almonds that were coated in olive oil. Oh my! So good!!! I think I also pretty much ate most of that brick of white cheddar by myself.
She hosted 11 guests it was simply lovely. Her hubby made an amazing dinner and everyone had a great time!
On Sunday we had a kids birthday party in the morning and then that afternoon a brunch for my sister so, that she could celebrate her birthday with our parents and the boys.
My mom set a beautiful table:
Plus a yummy spread, which also included made to order omelettes, muffins and some sweet treats!
Best part was opening the gifts and getting to make the custom puzzle my youngest sister got her!
It was a long and fun weekend and I was able to sneak into bed by 7 on Sunday night! Perfection!
Happy Birthday Ximena! She is now going on day 3 of her birthday celebration, but it’s finally the actual date!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
