At the beginning of the summer we took a family vacation to the Catskills. The Catskills have become my newest obsession. It’s not a bad drive from our house and it’s just so beautiful. The mountains, the country homes, the lakes. It’s just so pretty. I got my first dose of the Catskills last year when we stayed at Foxfire Mountain House. It was lovely and we were close to Woodstock, so we were able to get out and explore the town. This time around we stayed in Jeffersonville at Hubert House. Oh how I wish I owned a country home like, Hubert House. It was on 20 acres, has a pool, fire pit, hammock, picnic tables, hot tub and lake access.
The exterior of the house had me at hello. Cedar shaking and black trim.
Once you walked in the main door you were met with a black hallway that was extra wide and used as a library of sorts.
The library leads to a large sized dining room filled with windows.
Off of the dining room there is one of the enclosed patios. This patio has a cozy living room on one side and then the opposite side had a hot tub, which we enjoyed every day!
Off of the patio there is a large lawn and picnic tables along with a fire pit and hammock.
This lawn then leads to the pool and BBQ gazebo.
The BBQ gazebo was really nice because we were able to prepare and cook lunch/dinner in the shade while everyone else was enjoying the pool.
Back in the house this was the living room. It was full of windows, cozy seating areas, a fire place and record player that I used all of the time.
Off of the living room there was an additional enclosed patio for dining. We ate most of our meals there. It was so pretty with the twinkly string lights.
The house sleeps 8 people. Here are a peeks into the rooms:
It was a perfect get-away and the perfect excuse to use my Wander tote.
It was so nice to get away and not have a plan for any day. There was very little sightseeing. We went out once to see the town, but there is not much there so there is really no excuse to go out. We bought groceries, did all of the cooking ourselves and basically hung out at the pool all day and hot tub at night. My whole family fell in love with the house. We were all so sad to leave and really wished we had booked a full week at the house. We are all now on the hunt for a country house in the Catskills.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
