This weekend was action packed! The most exciting part was getting to go out with Asher to get our nails done. Now, as a boy mom I try and be really gender neutral. I never want my boys to think that dolls are just for girls or pink isn’t for them. Even though I have tried really hard they still don’t love the idea of wearing pink and are into all things boys. It’s all about dirt, trucks, legos, fishing and yes they make a gun out of everything even though I don’t allow them in the house. So, I really thought I was never going to get to experience going out for manicure with my little guys. Hudson never took me up on when I asked and now that he is five that ship has sailed. Asher on the other hand is still little and loves arts and crafts. So, when I mentioned paint he was intrigued. Of course then Hudson teased him and he told me he wouldn’t come. Dream crushed. I thought it was over until I was leaving for my appointment and was saying goodbye to him and he came running out and told me he wanted to come. He had a blast picking out his colors, black, green and blue and even sat with me during my pedicure and dipped his feet in.
He was very eager for it to be his turn and got to sit by himself and made sure to tell the manicurist the order he wanted the colors.
I was in heaven. He behaved so well and really enjoyed it. I’m sure he won’t want to come all the time, but it was nice to get a little mommy and son date.
Saturday we had a lazy morning and then headed off to a BBQ in the afternoon. My phone died so no photos. I know! Bad blogger.
Sunday morning Jon went out early to do some fishing and came home with a surprise! He caught a fluke! There was lots of excitement when he got home!
We headed out to the local fish market and had them filet it and then ran out to see a house. I wish I could tell you it was the one, but it was another dud. It had two bedrooms that were smaller than our current shed! The hunt continues, but as of now we are moving in with our parents while the hunt continues because we need to be out of our house by Sept 1. Cue tears as we have being figuring out storage pods this weekend and I’m starting to pack up the house this week.
In the afternoon Jon headed out with the boys to do a little walking with his sister, because she is training for the Avon breast cancer walk in October and I had a little alone time and headed to the mall!
First stop was Nordstrom. Where I tried on some items that had caught my eye online.
I fell in love with this skirt, but honestly I had zero need for it. I was sad to leave it behind and when I got home I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I did a little searching online and found it for $67 at Lord & Taylor! That made it a much more acceptable price for a whim! At least that was my logic.
I also fell in love with this tassel dress by Maggy London. I should have gotten, but again I left it behind so that I could sleep on it.
The main reason why I was at the mall was to go to the new Ballard Designs. I have Ballard for years, but we never had a location in NY so, I only got to experience it via it’s catalog and online.
The store was massive and had a little bit of everything. They even had a main design area with computers where you could work with an associate and order whatever you need like a customized sectional. They also had drawers full of fabric swatches and rug swatches. Making it super easy for you to grab your favorites and test them out at home.
It was a fun to get to see and touch everything in person.
Super packed weekend, but lots of fun too!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
