Summer is coming to an end and I have been running out of activities to do with the boys. One of their favorite stops this summer was heading to a local ice cream shoppe where they make those extreme milkshakes complete with a piece of pie! We always had fun when we went, but the wait was always extremely long and they were pricey. Plus they don’t even like milkshakes. So, they were pretty much purchased for the wow factor and candy accessories. Instead of heading out yet another time I realized we could easily make one at home! Are you ready to tackle a DIY Extreme Milkshake? Or in our case we simply went with an ice cream sundae.
Here is what you will need:
-Sprinkles – I like to make my own mix, but love these as well.
-Frosting – Any brand will do
-Container – I found these cute ones at the Dollar Tree, but I also love these fountain shoppe glasses or these plastic soda glasses.
Step 1: Apply a layer of frosting to the top part of your cup and roll over sprinkles.
So easy! You literally just lay it down and roll on the plate.
Step 2: Fill with whatever goodness you like! In all of the shops we have gone to there are different milkshakes you can get.
Here is an easy chocolate milkshake recipe:
-3 scoops of vanilla ice cream (make sure it is soft)
-1/4 cup of chocolate syrup
-1/4 cup of whole milk
-1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Add into blender and mix!
My boys aren’t fans of milkshakes so we made ice cream sundaes instead. Now, the cups are really large and I didn’t want the kids having that much ice cream. So, I filled the majority of the cups with mini marshmallows and then just added two scoops of ice cream on top for them.
Step 3: Add all of the extras. You can really let your imagination go wild. I just shopped my house and found a black/white cookie, chocolate chip cookie, pink sugar crystals and a mini ice cream cone. I used frosting to adhere the mini cone to the chocolate chip cookie.
I was very pleased with my finished product and the boys eyes lit up when they saw it in all it’s glory! I even got to sneak a bite or two.
It was so simple to do at home!!!! It would be a great activity for a playdate or even a fun interactive dessert during a grown up dinner party.
YUM!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
