Last week I shared my one of my sister’s apartment reveal. I made sure to have it photographed before they moved and I made sure to do the same with my baby sister’s apartment as well. You see while Jon and I were getting ready to move out of our first house and move in with my parents while the house hunt continued my sisters were moving as well and they were going to be having their own three’s company living situation. So, now my baby sister lives with my middle sister and her husband. Fun times around here! We need a Bravo TV show for you to really get the full picture.
Before this new move my sister was living by herself in a one bedroom apartment in Washington Heights. It’s one of the bigger apartments that she has lived in complete with an entry way area and open concept living room and dining room plus a separate bedroom.
When you walked into her apartment there was a nice little area where we put a console table with storage and mirror. It became a catch all for mail and keys and she used the drawers for office supplies.
The mirror and console where finds from my furniture shed. Yup, a have a shed full of furniture that I can’t part with. Comes in handy when my sisters move and they tend to do it quite frequently.
If I can put a tassel somewhere I will do it. I had these in my craft supplies and they were just the pop of color that I needed.
I sourced an Interior Define sectional called Sloan. My sister let me go daring and we ordered in in the sapphire velvet with brass legs. It’s an amazing shade of blue that changes a bit depending on the amount of light in the space. So, it’s not bam in your face bright blue.
I went with indoor/outdoor pillows, because I know things can get messy and they worked out perfectly. I picked up the Nantucket stripe and Boca Raton from Mintwood Home. They were a really nice size, comfy and easy to wipe down and clean.
I shared the dining room before when I showcased the amazing warrior girl gallery wall. It’s one of my favorite gallery walls!
The dining set was another vintage gem from my furniture shed. Of course I had to top it off with a stunning floral arrangement.
The bedroom continued with the feminine and glam vibe the entire apartment has going on. The yellow and white patterned bedding from Crane & Canopy was the perfect backdrop to let the greek key headboard and accent pillows shine!
These two toned Kate Spade euro shams made my heart sing when I found them at HomeGoods. Such a great find and they helped tie everything together on the bed.
Opposite the bed was a DIY aerial beach photo that was a super easy project with a floating lucite frame.
We also had a desk/vanity combo area which again was comprised of vintage finds. Everything looks better with a dose of white paint and in this case also a dose of citron paint.
Such a pretty and happy apartment. I loved that I got to get really girly in certain aspects. It was fun to use so many pops of pink!
Amazing photography from Charlie Juliet Photography.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
Weird question, but do you know where the sconces in the bedroom are from? Love them!
Yup, they are from Ikea, but they don’t carry them anymore. They came in silver and we painted them gold.
My 3rd son lives in Washington Heights
Your sisters apartment is cute
Fun! The area is really popular right now. Lots of fun new restaurants, etc!
