I love finding local gems. Places that I happily wander upon and while I would love to keep them as my little secret instead I get so excited I tell everyone! My latest gem is Rudy’s Kitchen. I live in Nassau County on Long Island and we don’t have a lot of farm land. At least that’s what I thought until I heard buzz about a food truck called, Rudy’s Kitchen that is parked at East Meadow Farms. I’m probably 10 mins away from said farm, but I never knew it existed. I took a drive out a couple of weeks ago and invited my pal, Liz from Elizabeth Kristin Photography to document our ladies lunch! Both of us have kids in school for a good chunk of the day so, it’s lovely to get to meet for coffee, errands and the occasional lunch!
The East Meadow Farm is part of Cornell University and while it’s petite in size it was beautiful. It houses food gardens and has a farm stand where you can purchase corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash. They also have numerous flower gardens and my favorite one had to the rows upon rows of dahlias!
Aren’t they stunning? They had many different varieties and a rainbow selection of colors.
Next to the main building at the farm center is Rudy’s Kitchen, which is a food truck run by a mother daughter duo. The food is fresh, healthy, delicious and locally sourced!
They serve breakfast all day long, but they also have yummy panini and salad options.
Lots of cute seating areas so we saw many people here on their lunch break from work.
We had a delicious kale salad full of kale, roasted corn, quinoa, heirloom tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, parmesean cheese with a lemon dressing!
We also picked up a Rise & Shine breakfast sandwich, which I’m still dreaming about. It has a fried egg, avocado, heirloom tomatoes, colby cheese on a ciabatta bread.
A delicious lunch spot and I’m happy to report they also do events! It would be so amazing to have their pretty airstream pull up to your house for a party!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
