I love to make things. There is nothing better than walking into a craft like Michaels and seeing all of the possibility out there. Sometimes I go into the store with a specific project in mind and other times inspiration hits once I’m in the store. A couple of weeks ago I saw that Michaels had a massive DIY section with blank tumblers, ceramic mugs, straw bags, straw clutches, mason jars. All blank canvases ready for you to get your DIY on! I picked up a straw clutch with no specific project in mind, but I figured I could do something with it. I turned the aisle and found some pre-made yarn pom poms in a variety of colors for less than $2! Those quickly got added to my cart as well. I knew right away I could tackle a DIY pom pom straw clutch, but that’s been done! Once I was in my studio and I started going thru my craft supplies I saw my amazing palm leaf ribbon trim that I had been dying to use! Viola! We now had something different with a diy ribbon and pom pom clutch that can be done in 10 mins or less!
Here is what you will need:
Step 1: Cut your ribbon to size and make sure there is enough to cover the inside of the clutch as well. Trace a circle over where the magnet and snap is so, that you can cut it out.
Step 3: For gluing I decided to focus on the inside of the bag where you wouldn’t really see the glue marks. Glue guns doesn’t lay super flat so it does leave a little bump when you apply it and with ribbon or fabric you can always see the indent of where it. Gluing just the inside part of the bag lets you hide it.
Step 4: Once your ribbon is attached it’s now time to add the pom poms! Just open up the pom pom to apply a space for glue. You place it in the middle and then squeeze it over the border of the straw clutch.
Step 5: Rock your new stylish straw clutch!
It was so easy to make and came in under $10! You can’t beat it! So excited to use it all summer long!
