Ah! When you children wake up before 6am the weekend days just seem to be never ending! Hudson has now gotten into the habit of waking up at 6:30 and this past Saturday he decided that 5:30 would be even better! We tried our hardest to keep our eyes closed for as long as possible, but eventually we just gave in and went down to start breakfast and set up a tent outside for camping before most people were having their morning coffee! The only nice thing about is that we ended up getting so much accomplished before 12!
I had a project I needed Jon’s skills to tackle so after set up the boys with their faux camping experience in the backyard we got to work! Of course, the second after we start a project we always realize something is missing and a trip to Home Depot is needed! So, we got my parents to watch the boys and off we went!
I love finding inspiration in the world around us. It truly is everywhere. I was mesmerized with the colors and patterns on these boards on my way in.
Of course I did a little wandering and found these chic caned planters:
They would look so pretty on as a pair on a mantle or for a tablescape.
When we got back home I worked away on staging the project for the photos and Jon helped me figure out the logistics of the DIY project I wanted for the space. I always come up with a kooky idea and then I run it by Jon so that he can help me bring it to life! No sneak peeks, but it’s a good one! Stay tuned.
While we waited for some paint to drive we did take a little break. A couple of years ago I bought an outdoor sofa on amazon! It was less than $200 and free shipping! Of course I had to dress it up with some fun outdoor pillows like these Waverly pillows.
I also had to share my latest steal! I found these silver tasseled sandals at Nordstrom Rack for $20!!! Woo-hoo! Plus they are the comfiest sandals I have ever owned!
By the time we wrapped up our project it was almost 4, but there was still lots of daylight left to burn so, we headed out to the beach!
Jon got a little fishing in while the boys went nuts in the water.
Jon honestly wasn’t expecting to catch anything, but a las the ocean had other plans! He ended up catching a striped bass! Don’t worry we put the little guy back in the water after snapping a couple of photos.
We stayed at the beach until the sun started to set and then headed home to finally get the boys to sleep.
Sunday was a crappy day weather wise. Lots of gray clouds and sprinkles throughout the day. My allergies got the best of me and I was fighting a sinus headache most of the day, but I did manage to sneak out for a little outing to a thrift store where I used the thrift store shopping tricks I shared with you last week!
Found lots of good finds like this mid-century nightstand:
I even found this chic gem in the rug section:
The lighting area can be hit or miss, because many things can get dated, but I love the scale of these. Just swap out the lampshades and you are good to! Spraypaint is always an easy fix if the color doesn’t work for your space.
So many fun finds that I wanted to bring home!
Did you go thrifting this weekend? Tackled any home projects?
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
