I have loved to read for as long as I can remember. I devour books and read so many that honestly at times I can remember that I read a book, but can’t really tell you anything about it. Whoops! While I do read serious books I love nothing more than an amazing chick lit book! If it has a pretty cover with an amazing font and some sort of pink then I’m buying it. If the book takes place in England then I’m even more excited! With kids I don’t get to read as much as I use to, but I still try and read at least one book a month. The summer months means time at the beach and I’m aiming to actually crack open a book while I’m there. So, enter my round up of the best summer beach reads! Let me know if you pick any up so that we can read and discuss!
I’m not going to lie I literally bought this book because of the fun cover! It was an easy read because it was written in the forms of emails and texts so it goes by quickly. At first I wasn’t into and found the girls a little annoying. Maybe I’m just too old for the book. I’m in my mid-30s and in the book they are in their mid-20s and mostly single. However I did get invested and excited about it after a bumpy beginning. It’s a fun easy read that revolves around one of them getting engaged and the craziness surrounding it.
Marriage Vacation by Pauline Brooks
If you don’t watch Younger than you might not be as excited about this book, but if you do then you totally get it! Also totally start watching Younger! It’s amazing!!! The main character in Younger works at a book publishing house and this is one of the books that they are launching on the show. It’s a story about a woman who leaves her dreamy husband aka the head of the book publishing house and her two weeks to figure out her what if. I can’t wait to get my hands on this.
When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger
If you loved the Devils Wear Prada then you will totally love anything writer Lauren Weisberger writes. Her latest book When Life Gives You Lululemons follows the story of Emily, 1st assistant to Miranda Presley and her life as an image consultant that is trying to revive her career. Enter a scandal that only she can fix! I don’t need to know anymore. I’m in!
The Hating Game A Novel by Sally Thorne
Oh this is a book about two co-assistants to a CEO. Lucy and Joshua who are complete opposites and hate each other. Of course they are up for the same promotion and in a massive battle, but do they really hate each other or is hate really love? Work place romance! Check!
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
A love story that features a woman named, Stella who has Aspergers and only thinks about the world in terms of math. While she is super successful in business her dating life is non-existent. So, she hires a professional escort to help her learn the ropes. Apparently the book has a bit of a raunchy vibe to it and has gotten amazing reviews!
My Lady’s Choosing: An Interactive Romantic Novel by Kitty Curan
At around the age of 10/11 I remember my favorite books to read were the choose your own adventure books. You know the ones I’m talking about where if you turned to page 56 you went one direction with the book, but if you went to page 26 it was a totally different direction. I was obsessed with them. So imagine my delight when I found a grown up version! Of course this time it’s a love story that takes place in the Eighteen century! It’s meant to be written in satire form and not a true romantic tale, but I’m willing to give it a try for sentiments sake.
Surprise Me by Sophia Kinsella:
Sophia Kinsella’s books are my favorites! She just has this amazing way to writing the best female leads that are not perfect by any mean and relatable, funny and pretty much your BFF in book form. Surprise Me is about a married couple that realizes they could be together for another 68 years! So, they decide to spice things up and surprise each other with little dates, gifts, etc and of course mishaps arise. I’m totally in for this! My favorite Sophia Kinsella book? Twenties Girl! Add it to your list if you haven’t read it!
The Sunshine Sisters by Jane Green
Jane Green is also always a favorite when I want a book with an amazing storyline revolving a woman. I would say a lot of her books are meatier than a traditional chick lit book, which I really like. The Sunshine Sisters is a book about three sisters that must come together when their absentee mother is ill. The sisters have never been close, but their mother’s impending death brings them together and brings out old jealousies and fears. Sounds like a Lifetime Movie and I’m totally on board for it.
This Love Story Will Self Destruct by Leslie Cohen
Girl meets Boy. Girl isn’t into Boy. Girl and Boy keep bumping into each other and eventually become friends. Now should they change their relationship and become more than friends? This book follows the lives of Eve and Ben in their early twenties and gives off major When Harry Met Sally vibes. It’s written from both of the points of views and I’m very excited to find out if they get together at the end and what goes on to get them to that place.
I’m super excited about this book, because it isn’t all about a love story. This is a story about a powerful woman that has it all with her amazing job and perfect family, but just when she thinks she has it all under control she meets a younger woman that claims to be her younger self with her same exact name and same exact scar. Is she going nuts or is their really a person there?
I don’t normally read YA books, but I have no problem devouring YA TV shows. If it’s meant for a 16 year old I’m probably watching it. Reviews say that this book is a cross between Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. I never watched Gossip Girl, but I was obsessed with Pretty Little Liars so, I’m all about this book! The story revolves around a girl named Kay who receives a digital scavenger hunt from a dead girl that went to her school! Clue after clue reveals suspect after suspect! I love a mystery and I’m eager to get my hands on this book!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I just read saw My Lady’s Choosing featured in an instagram post and I want to read it! I’m a big fan of Julia Quinn romance novels set in Regency England so….I can’t see why I wouldn’t give this one a try.
