Decorating for holidays has become one of my favorite things to do. In the past couple of years, the boys have really gotten into Christmas and it’s fun to wow them. I love getting all of the common areas in the house like the living room, dining room, kitchen, family room all decked out for Christmas but I have never touched the bedrooms. This year I was inspired to do so! Perhaps it’s all of the Christmas movies I have been watching since early November. I got the boys’ room in the Christmas spirit, but I hadn’t touched our bedroom. Luckily Amie from Meme Hill asked me to join her and some blog friends in a Holiday bedroom blog hop! It was a sign! I said yes and then started to gather some things for my take of Christmas in my bedroom. I know the typical Christmas colors are green, red and perhaps some sort of metallic like gold or silver. I think it’s beautiful and love the traditional holiday decor at my parents’ home, but as you know I’m a bit more colorful! Enter my twist on traditional Christmas!
My jumping-off point was my pretty green pillows! I picked the fabric up last year because I liked all of the colors and thought it looked like the three wise men. So, it still has a nod to Christmas. Then I picked up a green and white buffalo check for the back and used pom pom trim. You can find ready made pillows here.
Then I did a little shopping around the house and snagged the tassel pillows from the living room and used them here instead!
Crane & Canopy is my go-to source when it comes to bedding. I’m a huge fan of the amazing quality and all of the different patterns and colors available. Truth be told I’m also friends with one of their co-founders, Karin. She is such an amazing business woman, friend and momma! She is all about getting the best possible quality in the hands of customers. When I told her what we were working on she was sweet enough to send over new bedding for everyone. I picked the Flora coral duvet cover because of it’s color and the little surprise of the pattern. A basically solid duvet with a twist. They also sent over the dreamiest pajamas, which I keep putting on earlier and earlier. Yesterday it was 4:30 and I already had them on! So soft! Plus who doesn’t love a monogram! The last surprise in my package was a silk sleep mask!!!! We don’t have blackout shades which makes it hard to sleep in even a little. Now I don’t have to worry about it!
Close up pajamas with monogramming! When in doubt, monogram it!
I needed more Christmas vibes, which meant garland! I have a photo ledge above the headboard which made it a really easy place to place the garland. I looped some 3″ grosgain ribbon around, added some sparkly ornaments and then topped it off with my Trader Joe’s pom pom garland!
My nightstand got a little love with my favorite hot cocoa mug which is becoming a daily habit and a holiday-inspired book like Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella.
So, who is ready to come over and watch some cheesy Christmas movies over here!
Make sure you head over and check out everyone else on this fabulous blog hop! I can’t wait to see how they decorate for the holidays.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
