As you now know we finally bought a new house. It was in rough shape and what started out as a demo to remove the walls and put up new sheetrock has turned into so much more! Once we finished the demo and removed the walls, insulation and Limonium flooring we realized so much more needed to be done. Jon updated the electrical, which was always on the plan. This meant mapping out where all of the lighting was going to go and furniture placement to figure out the ideal place for electrical outlets. All things you don’t really think about when you buy a move-in ready house.

Looking up while on the second floor you can are now met with the attic, not a ceiling! Jon has been working on reinforcing the beams in order to add new flooring and putting in pull downstairs in the hallway so, we can use the attic for storage.

It gets worse before it gets better, right! We are doing a lot of the work ourselves, but also outsourcing certain things. We had someone come in to do the demo and they will also be sheetrocking the walls. Jon is doing behind the walls work like the electrical and this weekend he is tackling rerouting pvc piping for the plumbing in the kitchen. We just need to check off a couple more to-do’s before insulation can go in and walls can go up!

Do you have any thoughts on insulation? Jon wanted to go with spray foam insulation, but I have been recommended by many people that have gone through renovations that traditional roll insulation is better. Thoughts?
