I never thought I would be writing a post about clean beauty. For some reason, clean beauty was never something that really concerned me. I would happily pick up all of my favorite makeup items from Ulta or even the drugstore and never thought twice about what I was putting on my face. Then I hit my mid-30’s and got very serious about how I treated my skin. So, I had a pretty complex skin routine and continued with my normal makeup. Have I had my ear talked off about BeautyCounter? You bet! I don’t like being sold too and typically I like to do the opposite of mainstream so, while I had a couple of pieces from their line it was never something I repurchased. This year I started hearing more and more about clean beauty and it really started to sink in. I try and buy organic when I can, why can’t I treat my skin with a little bit more love?
Quarantine hit and I was scrolling through Facebook and saw a video for Ilia Beauty and it stopped me in my tracks. It was for a product they make called, Super Serum Skin Tint. It looked light, had amazing coverage, gave you a glowy finish, and has SPF 40. I was interested! I went on to their site and was a bit overwhelmed with all of the color options. I used their chat feature and was able to send a photo of my face without makeup and sent over information about what I currently wore and the color I used in that brand.
She picked out a color for me and originally I thought it was too dark, but she swore it was perfect and that they found that many people were going too light when they were ordering online. So, I placed the order and waited. When my box arrived I tested it out right away and it was love at first sight! I immediately placed an order for more of their make up products! So, now my entire make up routine is all Ilia Beauty.
You know that I’m always upfront with you about what I love and share and these products are winners! They are all clean, easy to apply, look amazing, and last all day long. I was the most shocked by the mascara because I can be a mascara snob. Perfection. I can’t stop talking about them and have become their cheerleader! I already got my mom on board, because they sent me sample super serum skin tints in other shades and she tried it out.
Here I am with only clean beauty products in outside lighting. It was a sunny out, but not super bright. No filter or editing done.
Here is another day with me in the makeup where it was super sunny! I totally needed sunglasses that day! So bright!
Here are inside with no overhead lighting, but some sunshine coming in from outside.
I have been really happy with it. The coverage is super light, but it still does a good job of evening out my skin and hiding my overhead lighting. I love the dewy glow it gives. I feel like I constantly have an instagram filter on! I was the most suspicious of the lipstick and mascara working properly and they blew me away. I’m super happy and can’t wait to test out even more products. I’m now a clean beauty convert!
Here is what I ended up buying:
No. 1 Super Serum Skin Tint: I would use the chat feature to find out what color works best for you.
No. 2 True Skin Serum Concealer: Again I asked the chat feature for help on what would work best with my skin tone.
No. 3 Multi-Stick : This comes in a favorite of colors. I picked up, I put a spell on you. You can use it on your cheeks and lips, for contouring and even as an eye shadow.
No. 4 Limitless Lash Mascara: I love the brush was this mascara.
No. 5 Nightlite Bronzing Powder: You can use this instead of blush or use blush/multi-stick and then contour with the powder.
No. 6 Color Block High Impact Lipstick: I picked up a pink shade called Knockout and Red/Orange shade called Flame. I have loved both and they stay on for a surprisingly long time.
If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or contact me on instagram to ask. I found that the chat feature on their site was super helpful. I asked Mariah so many questions!
Also if you want to try some out yourself I found a 15% off promo code for new orders. Use promo code HELLOTHERE
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
