Ah! Its One Room Challenge Week 5 and I’m not going to lie I’m a bit stressed! We had a little hiccup with our tile. I hadn’t planned on doing niche’s originally so I never accounted for the extra tile they would require. It’s not a ton. Literally, I just need 10 more tiles, but still a stressor for this week! I have to tell you the manager, Lisa at The Tile Shop in Westbury, NY has been an angel. I think Jon has been there on a weekly basis since the challenge started because we decided to add something new and we needed more items. She has also made mountains move to get us those extra tiles for tomorrow!!!! Cue the excitement!!!! This means things can keep moving and my wallpaper can get installed early next week!
I popped into the house today and it was nice to see much work getting accomplished. We had a crew in the basement working on adding walls to the space to make it our family room. Then upstairs I had a lovely man named Eddie installing the tile for me!!!!
Today these beauties called Ava with Victoria marble mosaic tile are being installed in the upstairs bathroom. Aren’t they stunning!!!! The floor is going to look amazing!!!
The shower area is equally as beautiful with it’s Lima De Persia tile which is actually named after a lime that is a mix of yellow and green so it’s this really pretty citron color.
We went with two niches so that Jon and I can have the top one with our products and the boys could have the lower one with their products.
Then downstairs we are using cement tiles from Lili Tile and it looks beautiful and it’s exactly what I wanted. The mother of pearl terrazzo in it has the prettiest sparkle! It’s going to be a perfect addition to my jewel box aka tiny powder room.
Here is a better look at the color!
Here are the accessories that I will be using in the bathrooms:
For the powder room I didn’t need many accessories, but it did not a towel bar and I wanted it to be a statement piece. I immediately knew of my dream piece and it is this chic and glossy 24″ poppy towel bar by Dunes & Duchess. Doesn’t it look like it was made for this wallpaper? It picked out the blue in the wallpaper perfectly!!! I can’t wait to get it installed. I’m going to be pairing it with this hand towel.
Then I picked up this toilet paper holder in chrome to match the other metal elements in the bathroom. Since the console sink for this space has a bit of vintage vibe I wanted the hardware to be a little bit more ornate to go with the look and not too modern looking.
Lastly I picked up a basket to go under the console sink and hold extra toilet paper!
For the full bathroom upstairs I’m still narrowing down the hardware, but I did fall in love with the idea of recovering the lampshades in the vanity to something like this scalloped beauty! Then I think I’m going to put my Gina Julian print in here. I already have one I love, but then I saw this version, and the colors work so perfectly that now I think I want it instead! Pairing it with some happy Kate Spade towels in the grapefruit soda colorway! Hello, the name totally got me!
In this space I’m still on the hunt for the perfect mirror. I might try and DIY a vison I have in my head or pick up this mirror because I really like the shape and faux bamboo frame. I’m just afraid the mirror part might be too small. I would paint it if I got so it would pop against the wallpaper!
Almost there yet so far away! Stress eating and hoping it all gets done!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
