This past weekend I was in and out of home improvement stores and I was surprised to see a pair of boobs at the end cap of the lighting aisle! These flush mounts most commonly referred to as boob lights were sold as a set of 2 for less than $25. I get the appeal of them price-wise, but decor-wise it’s a big no-no. There are much better items out there! I did some searching high and low and rounded up my favorite designer approved flush mount lighting options. Flush mount lighting options that are modern yet classic and go with a variety of design styles. You wouldn’t think a hallway boob light switch would make much of a difference, but it will change your space! You will look up at it and wonder why oh why you waited so long to change them! Now I can’t beat the $22 price point for a pair of boob lights, but I did stay budget conscience and didn’t break the bank with my options!
No.1 Trydor Flushmount : I like the two-toned finish on this piece. It is available in white/brass, black/chrome and black/brass. I also really like the diffuser on the bottom so that you get a soft glow of light and don’t have to worry about getting cute light bulbs. Another similar option is this beauty.
No. 2 Drinkard Flush Mount : I love the retro vibe that this flush mount has. It makes me think of something that would be a house from the 1930s and I’m into. It would look so pretty to have a bunch of them going down a hallway.
No. 3 Maxim Rogue Flush Mount : I actually have this one in my bathroom and I love it! It comes in a nickel, black, and brass finish. It gives off a good amount of light, has chic lines to it that give it some interest but doesn’t distract.
No. 4 Ellar 3 Light Flush Mount : The most modern of all of my picks. It’s not my design style, but I really like its lines. It’s classic, but not boring. I really like the size of this one. At 15.75″ diameter, it will make a nice presence on your ceiling. Another good option for less than $60.
No. 5 Possino Euro Flush Mount: Another fixture that gives me a classic vintage vibe to it. It would work perfectly in a traditional home or a country cottage. I will take one of each, please!
No. 6 Meridan Drum Flush Mount : I love a drum shade light fixture because you can get a bit creative it you. Add a ribbon trim border to the bottom, cover it in new fabric or even paint it a color!!!!!
No. 7 Golden Light Flush Mount: Black and brass have been having a moment for the last couple of years and it’s still going strong! I like this fixture because it’s a bit trendy with the colors but still a classic design that will work for years to come.
No. 8 Milk Glass Semi-Flush Mount: A classic globe fixture with milk glass, which gives it a vintage vibe! Love this little guy. It’s a bit mid-century modern but it could also work perfectly in a chic cabin in the Catskills.
No. 9 Julie 2 Flush Mount : Metal drum shade flush mount is my favorite out of the bunch. Love that it is available in two tones of silver and brass. It looks so high end, but it’s less than $100.
No. 10 Sputnik Flush Mount: This fixture gives me Jonathan Adler vibes! I love the visual interest it has with the direction of the rods.
No. 11 Nodes Flush Mount: Modern and chic! It’s designed by legendary interior designer, Kelly Wearstler! If you want a bit of a Kelly vibe to your home then this beauty is for you!
No. 12 Bailey Street Globe Flush Mount : This fixture is as if No. 8 and No. 11 had a baby. It’s a bit more classic looking in shape. So, if No. 11 is too edgy for you then this is your fixture!
No. 13 Stamm Flush Mount: So this one might not stand the test of time and be relevant in 20 years, but I loved the look of it! Very chic and it comes in a polished nickel which is a current favorite of mine!
Are you ready to tackle your home?
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
