Lately, I have been getting a lot of questions on Instagram, and this week I shared what products I use on stories. It’s a good amount of products, but I swear it all goes on quickly and it typically just takes me 10 mins or so to do it. I turned 40 this year and skincare has become more and more important to me these past couple of years. So I’m going to share what I use from the cleansing process to skincare and then the actual makeup.
Here is my before photo:
no.1 CeraVe Acne Foaming Cleanser: I have oily skin and did get hormonal acne. I swear I rarely had any blemishes in my teen years, but adulthood has been a whole other story with my skin. I find that this cleanser works really well with my skin. Whenever a pimple pops up it’s gone the next day with this.
no. 2: La Roche Posay Purifying Face Wash: This is my absolute favorite. It’s so gentle on my skin and really takes off my makeup. I use it in the morning while I’m showering and then at nighttime.
no. 3: After the shower, I put on some Bioderma Sensibio Rich Soothing Moisturizing Cream when my skin is really a little bit irritated. It really helps calm my skin.
no. 4 For my undereye area I have tried pricey and drug store options and one of my favorites is Neutrogena Hydro boost Hyaluronic Acid Eye Gel. It really helps plump up and fill those tiny little lines that you get under your eyes. Ah, the joys of getting older.
no. 5 Depending on the weather I get a little redness around my nostrils. I like using this soothing repair balm. It’s really thick but non-greasy and a little goes a long way. Asher gets eczema and I use it on him as well.
no. 6 I don’t do this step every day but if I remember then I use this matte facial moisturizer that is great for oily skin and reduces pore size. It really helps add a nice finish to your makeup.
no. 7 If I don’t do the matte facial moisturizer then I use this double repair moisturizer which is great for all skin types. It’s lightweight, leaves my skin super soft, and has SPF 30!!!!
Now I typically do all of this skincare straight out of the shower and then while that is all soaking in I get dressed. Now, we get to my quick makeup look. I can spend a while on my makeup, but I do this when I need to run out the door quickly but still want to look nice.
no. 8 I love this Pixi Brightening Perfector on my skin. It evens out your skin and works so well that I’m able to skip any sort of foundation.
no. 9 This Milani Supercharged Brightening Undereye Tint really helps get rid of any undereye circles. Trust me when I say I have tried them all and this is one of the few that actually works.
no. 10 If you like to add highlight and contouring to your makeup routine I find this double stick of highlight/contour to be pretty foolproof to use. It really helps add some cheekbones to my face.
no. 11 Since the undereye tint isn’t actually a concealer I use Maybelline instant rewind concealer on top and it works like a dream. It’s my go-to concealer! I always have backup stock of it at home so that I’m never out of it.
no. 12 I love this Pixi blush stick in the juicy color. It works really nicely with my skin tone and it’s super easy to glide it on and then I will blend it with a brush.
no. 13 You can never go wrong with essence mascara! I have tried so many different types of mascaras and essence is always one of my favorites that I repurchase time and time again.
no. 14 If you want even longer and fuller lashes then start using a lash primer! This is a new addition to my routine but it has been working.
no. 15 Billie Super Salve in sorbet is my absolute favorite lip balm. The color is so pretty and it’s really hydrating. I now have multiples of it so that I always have one on me.
no. 16 Most times I keep my eyes shadow-free if I’m doing a quick makeup job, but if I want a little shimmer I use this e.l.f. shadow stick in cooper chic. It glides on easily and it’s a beautiful color for the fall/winter.
After my skin and makeup routine:
So, is this too many steps for a makeup routine or are you going to test it out?
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
