Magic Carpet Ride

I have yet to settle on the perfect rug for my living room. I keep thinking that I’ve found the one and then I find another the one.

My latest obsession has been over dyed oriental rugs. Over dyed rugs came into fame a couple of years ago. They are vintage oriental or kilim rugs that would have been thrown out due to stains, etc. Instead of heading to a landfill they have all of their color removed and then they are over dyed in bright hues. The results are breath taking. ABC Home carries them and I visit them from time to time. Due to the labor intensive process of removing and adding color they are pretty pricey.

One of my tasks at High Point was to find a vendor that sold them and could make my wishes come true. A couple of companies had them, but the best one was Nomadic Trading. They had the biggest variety, the best prices and the sweetest owner. I even managed to sweet talk him into a special 30th birthday price for me! (I turn 30 in May and while I was trying to ignore it for most of this year I’m now embracing it.)

Check out some of my favorites:

I love the solid ones the best and I’m leaning towards a dark pink or yellow one. We will shall what Jon thinks of them. Surprise honey!

Tell me what you think.

They are gorgeous! Love the bright, saturated jewel tones! BTW, I did notice a few weeks back that there were some overdyed rugs on Ebay…it may be worth a look!

I am absolutely smitten with these rugs. First they are stunning looking and second that they are old rugs given a new life. I blogged about them a couple of times myself! There is also an etsy vendor who sells them: http://www.etsy.com/shop/PachaRugs?ref=seller_info
I hope you land a good deall on one, keep us posted!
