Today’s featured IN HER SHOES lady is blog royalty. Seriously, this woman has a crazy following, amazing readership, and tackles many, many, many must do DIY projects. A while back I emailed Sarah from Thrifty Decor Chick and introduced myself as a newbie blogger. I honestly wasn’t expecting an email back, because I knew her emails must be out of control, but a couple of days later a got a sweet email from her back and a friendship was born. We were luckily enough to spend some together in NY this past September and I can’t wait for her to plan a return a trip!
Enjoy a peek into her busy life!

Well hello all! I’m so honored that Camila asked me to be a part of her In Her Shoes feature. I met Camila last fall at the Nate Show taping and she was all I imagined her to be – sweet as pie, stylish and beautiful! I love her! 🙂
My first job is a stay-at-home Mom, the second is my blog. Some days are filled with blog stuff – projects, picture taking, computer time. Some (most) are just me being a Mom – trying to keep up with all the kiddo stuff, house stuff, life stuff. 🙂
Today was the latter, so it’s not very exciting…but it’s the life I love.
I’m not going to tell you how late I slept in today, cause half of you won’t even believe me, the other half of you will hate me. 😉 (In my defense, I’m a late owl. It’s an early night if I’m asleep by midnight, and even that rarely happens.)
I love mornings that our son doesn’t have school or we don’t have plans (not only cause I get to sleep in) because we get to spend time relaxing in bed, just the Bub and me. He watches his Disney and Nickelodeon, we play with the dog, and I catch up on Twitter and a few blogs:
After a few minutes, the puppy (who is a sleeper just like our son – SCORE!) is ready to go out likerightthisverysecond so we head outside with Peanut:
He does his typical barking at every. single. living. thing. that goes by (bugs included).
Today I was excited to see that my azaleas are about to burst!:
It seems like it’s taken SO much longer this year. I swear they’re usually blooming in mid-April.
Ninety-five percent of the time, you can find me in my Sketchers:
They’re easy to slip on and off to take out the dog, and they go with jeans and yoga pants. 🙂
And yes, my son still has his jammies on.
My only DIY project of the day was to take the glow-in-the-dark stars the Bub begged for:
And put a few up in his new book nook:
This little spot is my latest project and probably one of my favorites ever in our house. We’re all in love with it. The cute little stars are just the perfect bit of whimsy.
After getting ready for our day, we headed out to our favorite local diner for lunch. Their chocolate chip and banana pancake is scrumptious!:
I must have looked hungry, cause they made me the mongo version today. 😉 (NO, I didn’t eat all of it. As far as you know.)
Then it was off to the most wonderful place on Earth:
Well, behind IKEA. And HomeGoods.
Of course the dollar spot taunted us with it’s crap we don’t need but think we do:
I ask you, who doesn’t need a flip flop fly swatter? (No, I didn’t get it. But I was tempted.)
On the way home, we dropped another load off to Goodwill:
We had about 30 minutes to spare at home before we had to head out again.
While the Bub got dressed for his (first!) soccer practice, I tackled the disaster that is our kitchen island:
It will stay like this for about 20 minutes:
But at least I cleaned something today!
Then we were off to the soccer practice that was nothing short of adorable:
Seriously. Our boy did awesome!
And the coach is Alec Baldwin’s twin, I tell you. It was freakin’ me OUT.
After practice, we got home and while the Bub played, I took a few minutes to answer a couple emails:
And then I headed upstairs to our guest bedroom. It’s become my dumping ground lately:
Yes, our guests have slept in a pink, blue and purple room. It used to be my stepdaughter’s space – but she’s grown up. The room has not. 🙂
This room has been on my list for a redo for about two years now, and I’ve been waiting all that time to run into the perfect bedding to inspire me. I found it yesterday at TJ Maxx, and couldn’t wait to try it.
It didn’t disappoint. I LOVE IT:
So much so, I immediately went for the paint deck to find the new wall color:
And I found it, just like that. 🙂 Seriously – it took two years of looking, and in two days I’ve found bedding and the paint color?
Now I can’t wait to get painting!
Most evenings I’m still in my Sketchers, but tonight I am looking forward to a night out with girlfriends to celebrate Cinco de Mayo:
It’s rare, but I do show the toes once and a while. 🙂
After celebrating with a margarita, it’s home again. I usually don’t blog when the Bub is awake, but tonight he gets to stay up late to wait for Daddy, who had a late night at work. So he’s playing with the Pup while I get a post ready and get to some more emails.
And that is an exciting day in my life. Nothing spectacular, but every day is a great one – whether working on my latest DIY, working on my blog or being Mom.
Thanks for having me Camila! Love ya!

What a jam packed day and how sweet is Sarah! It was amazing to get to meet her in person as well. Ah I love this blog world of ours. I seriously wished we all got to be next door neighbors!
A big thanks to Sarah for sharing her day with us and coming home from her Cinco de Mayo dinner and sending this post over to me.
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
I really enjoy taking a sneak peek into bloggers lives. Thanks!
Nice to hear about her balance! It’s good to read about someone whose pace/schedule is more like mine…I am a night owl/later morning person with kids, too :).

Aaaaww. Her little bub is so adorable kicking his little soccer ball. And now I can’t wait to see what she does in that spare bedroom! What a teaze. Thanks for sharing her day with us.
What a cutie patootie her little buddie is! Love that Sarah and I keep the same schedule … late nights and hopefully sleeping in! 😉
Sarah is the coolest blog chick ever. She has her priorities straight, and the Lord is blessing her blog socks off! 🙂
