I’m happy to report that our latest installment of In her shoes is ready to start! I’m in the process of getting confirmations from all of the new upcoming ladies, but so far it’s been nothing but yes’s and I think you will happy with the new line up. Our first lady up is Sam from The Peak of Tres Chic. Not only is Ms. Samantha very chic, but she she is also extremely sweet and funny! I love how her personality shines through her blog and her instagram feed. She seems like the perfect girl’s girl and who couldn’t use another BFF in their corner. I will let Sam take over now and hope you enjoy a day in her shoes.

Hello Effortless Style readers! My name is Sam and I blog over at The Peak of Tres Chic. I am so glad to be here sharing a peek in to my day. I currently am in school full-time for interior design at the Houston Art Institute and also have a few residential interior design projects I am working on. Combined with keeping up with my blog, it’s never a dull moment or a dull day!
Being a night owl, I usually work late in to the night so I sleep in to the last minute I possibly can.
If I have class that morning, I’m up at 7:30 am to get prepared. If not, I’ll spend about an hour in bed going threw my RSS feed and checking in on my favorite blogs, checking up on social media, and making sure my post scheduled for that day is up:
Then I head straight to the shower and to get ready for my day. Most days, if I can get away with it, I’ll wear a little concealer and lip gloss and call it good. Because I have very blonde hair, baby powder works great as a dry shampoo:
If I have an open morning, I like to check out my favorite antique stores and showrooms for inspiration. I’m always on the hunt for exceptional pieces for client projects:
Once I’m freshly inspired, it’s off to the school library to work on assignments and get some studying done. Right now I’m in Drafting II and we are designing a restaurant. It’s a fun project but occupies about 6 hours weekly. Sometimes I feel like I live in the library! I know it will all be worth it when the project is finished.
After studying and class is done for the day, I’ll answer emails and work on my blog. I admit to spending a bit of time daily on Pinterest– I consider it “research” for my blog! It’s important to stay abreast of trends and I find it helps me discover new artists, designers, and talent.
After work is done for the day, I love to unwind with a glass of white wine, Bravo TV, and my guy.
Sometimes we’ll go to Starbucks and sit and read at night. He keeps me entertained, that’s for sure! 😉
Before bed, I’ll check my planner to make sure I am prepared for the next day and any appointments:
And then it’s off to bed to wake up and do it all over again! If I am being honest, I work on my laptop til late late late. I need to be better about shutting it off early. I’m still working on that!
Thank you, Camila, for letting me share my day. I hope it wasn’t too boring!
I hope you will all come say “Hi” over at The Peak of Tres Chic.
XOXO, Sam

How amazing are Sam’sdrafting skills? I remember having to do them as well with my classes and let me tell you there was a lot of erasing happening during that time. The hardest part for me was always getting the font right. My handwriting is just naturally way to bubbly.
Hope you all enjoyed this In her shoes. Happy Friday!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
