This summer I undertook a massive renovation at Hudson’s school. The Parent Resource Center is a parenting cooperative based out of Port Washington, NY. The PRC has been around for over 30 years and it is a place where parents and their children can come and enjoy enrichment classes, workshops, events and open play! The renovation consumed my summer and fall and this past Halloween we officially had our ribbon cutting! I have been so busy that I just realized I never shared the new look with you!
Let’s take a peek at the new space! We went with a blue, cream, orange color combo. To make a big impact we used these lovely decals from The Lovely Wall.
One of the new features in the space is a parent lounge where parents can go and grab a cup of coffee, read up on parenting books or even bring their laptops and get some work done while their kids are in class.
A big thank you to Kirklands for donating the mirrored chest which we use to house all of our parenting magazines.
The first classroom is the Air Room. It’s painted a pale blue, has fluffy clouds on the ceiling and planes, hot air balloons and stars throughout.
The second classroom is the Land Room. It’s filled with animals, a grass inspired floor area, and items to helps kids remember that adventure is out there!
The back wall is filled with cardboard busts that were generously donated by Cardboard Safari. They totally make the room. The kids love them and so do the adults.
The last room in the space is a teeny tiny main office. It didn’t get a new look, but the space outside of it did. We added a welcoming seating nook that I used all of the time.
It wasn’t originally in the plans, but I thought the wall needed something and since the office gets busy it’s nice to have an area to sit and wait until you can be helped.
My favorite part of this area is the beautiful bubbles out of the blue photography print. I thought it added a perfect touch of whimsy to the space.
Love the massive scale and the distressed frame. It was generously donated by Minted.Without them this little nook would look incomplete.
It was exhausting, but a complete labor of love. Everyone has been enjoying the new modern look. Weekend days are quickly booking up with birthday parties and the halls are a buzz during the day with kids at class. If you live on Long Island near Port Washington and have a child between 0-5 I would totally check them out. I’m Vice President of the board so you are bound to see me as well!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
Looks fantastic!!! I also love the idea behind it!
Beautiful!!
Great work. Love that bright orange you used – so cheery!
Now that looks like a place that inspires learning and creativity!
