This weekend we had no plans and since the forecast was so nice we decided to venture out to Bellport, NY. I have lived on Long Island for over 20 years and I had never been even though it was only a 45 min ride away. Bellport looks like it was meant for summer. It has charming old houses, a quaint main street and a marina on the Great South Bay that is across from Fire Island.
It was super cute and charming! We wanted to do a little canoeing in the Great South Bay, but we couldn’t find a place to launch out from so, we headed back home and stopped at the Nissaquague River.
Isn’t it so pretty?
My canoe team:
You have no idea how interesting it is to canoe with two little helpers. Ash tries to touch the water the entire time, which means he is almost hanging off the side and freaking me out. Hudson is much better on the water, but he argues with Ash most of the time about who gets to hold the paddle or throw the anchor. Poor Jon needs to pack multiples of everything.
It was a fun and long day full of adventure!
On Sunday we had a lazy day at home where I got to tackle loads of laundry. Nothing too exciting! We did get to sneak out in the afternoon for lunch and then a little fishing.
Hudson caught 2 fishes.
Jon caught this guy with a kernel of corn!
Ash and I got into the dessert box and enjoyed some brownies while we cheered on the fishermen!
A perfect end to a fun weekend full of time outdoors.
