The Martha Rules: Rule #5

  1. carlee says:

Thanks again for sharing all of these rules with us. I love the Kate Spade ads sprinkled through out the post. And I have to agree with you…I am a marketers dream too!

  2. Blair says:

Absolutely loving this series. Totally inspiring and motivating me!

  3. Benson says:

loving these rules and your take on them. I have a children's website and an etsy shop along with my day job (!!)
I've learned by trial and error–and I've discovered that I love giving "birth" to a new website or product…it's the nurturing and growing during times of trial that seem so frustrating to me. I think I want them to go from "birth" to "adult" in a year or so 🙂

  4. Chic Coles (Cole Design) says:

This series is fantastic! Melissa is a marketing major at school and she has to read theses posts. Thank you. So much great advise.

  5. Dumbwit Tellher says:

This series is exactly what I've been needing. Trying to breath life into my new real estate career in a place where I know very few. Easy to get discouraged but I know Martha would never give up. She didn't even do that while in the 'pokie' (as my mom use to call prison)! Happy weekend to you. Now I'm going to go put some words into action. x

  6. Melissa says:

I too have always loved Kate Spade and her ads. I can't even count the number of purses I have. Now I want the shoes and clothes! Thanks for sharing with us – I may need to check out this book.

  9. Chic 'n Cheap Living says:

Great series. Martha Stewart is deservedly a marketing genius (and didn't need to go to business school like I did!). I knew she would rebuild her empire even after the stock scandal. She created such a solid brand and has indeed been consistent about being stylish, savvy, and sensible.

ON THE BLOG

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.

Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.

On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.

Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]

round up of budget friendly bar carts

Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]

For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
