I have a killer eye when it comes to shopping. Whenever I enter any store and I mean any store I will find the diamond in the rough. Case in point, this past weekend we were shopping at Five Below and I found a something worthy of Anthropologie. I’m not sure if FiveBelow is everywhere, but it’s basically filled with random items that are $5 or less. They have flipflops and t-shirts, toys, make-up, candy, books, party supplies, etc. A glorified dollar store. We went in to pick up some pool rafts since I heard they have cute donuts, pizza slices, and popsicles. I found tribal clutches and coin purses! The clutches were $5 and the coin purses were $1. They were cute as is, but I knew I could make them even better with a little tassel love!
Here is all you have to do: Loop a piece of embroidery thread over any of the metal loops on the clutch. I chose to do the side one, but you could have done it on the zipper.
Then to make tassels super easy just loop the embroidery thread thru the original thread you looped thru the metal circle.
The knot all three of them together:
Then cut your tassel to size. Since the embroidery thread is looped on both sides when you make your cut you will already have another tassel ready to get started as well.
Then you flip the threads over so that the knot is not showing and then you can add an additional thread to loop around the tassel and finish it.
Voila! All finished!
I normally only make tassles in one color, but I loved doing the mix of 3 for this clutch.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
The time has come to finally share our new kitchen reveal. For those of you that have been with us from the beginning, we bought a house right before the pandemic hit. It was a total gut job from top to bottom. We started our demo and then the world shut down. Enter the delays […]
Picking out paint colors for a new home can be overwhelming. I find that many times when I meet with a new client the entire house is simply just painted white or a light gray. Now, I think there is a time and place for those colors, but with paint, there is just so much […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
