From the looks of Michael’s yesterday it seems like everyone has been hit by the decorating bug. All of their holiday decorations and ornaments were cleared out, but luckily there are still craft supplies to be purchased and crafting to be had! During one of my recent trips to HomeGoods I saw an adorable felt Christmas tree and knew it had great DIY potential! Here are the easy steps to tackle a DIY felt Christmas tree!
Step 1: Cut out felt branches for your tree. Ok, so it’s more like petals, but you get the idea! It’s pretty simple to do so. Just cut your felt sheet in half and cut out a petal shape and then unfold and cut it half so you are left with two petals.
Step 2: Once you are done cutting out your petals it’s time to apply them to your foam cone. Pick whatever color pattern you like and start applying the petals at the base of the cone.
Make sure you overlap your petals a bit so, that you can hide the foam cone. Also as long as the bottom of the petals are all level don’t worry if you have extra felt at the top. It will get hidden by the next layer.
Continue going up the cone layer by layer.
Step 3: You are all done! Simply display and enjoy!
It’s such an easy project and pretty inexpensive way to add some holiday cheer to your home. The best part is that you can customize it as much as you like. Add a start to the top or pom poms to the petals to add ornaments and make it whatever color or colors you like.
