Back in the day everyone was taking their plain jane corkboards and zhushing them up by painting the wooden frame and then applying fabric to the cork side. Many also added nail head trim to them. I made many of these throughout the years and they are still going strong. I always love an update and a different way to tackle the corkboard, which is even easier and chicer is to cover them completely with fabric! Here is to a new DIY fabric cover covered bulletin board with a twist!
Here is what you will need:
-Fabric – get something on the thick side. I like going with colored denim.
-1/2″ grosgrain ribbon
Step 1: Spray your spray adhesive on the bulletin board and frame. Let it set for a minute and get tacky.
Step 2: Apply fabric and wrap around the frame so that it covered the back a tiny bit.
Step 3: Then add grosgrain trim in a pattern. I went with a fretwork border here. In order to not deal with bunching in the corners of the fretwork pattern I cut all of the pieces individually.
All done! Now you can leave as is, but it just looks so pretty plain or go wild and pin up all of your notes, photos, etc. I tend to use them as jewelry holders like the this DIY homasote jewelry organizer I have made in the past.
One of my favorite projects. So easy yet it looks so chic and fancy!
