Spring is quickly approaching and I’m already getting my house in order! One of the first areas I tackled is my bedroom. Since we are still crashing with my parents during our house hunt it’s one of the rooms we actually spend quite a bit of time in. There are a couple of easy ways to refresh your bedroom for spring that don’t require a lot time, but make a huge impact!
When I moved in the room looked like this:
I had designed it for them a couple of years ago and I still really enjoyed it. We ended up bringing in our DIY upholstered bed and our painted nightstands, but left everything thing else as is. I didn’t want to make any major changes, because I will still really happy with the design of the space, but I did want to refresh it a bit for Spring.
Here is what it looks like now:
One way to refresh a bedroom is to switch up your above the bed area. The original mirror had been there for a couple of years and I wanted to add some more color into the space. Adding a picture ledge was very simple and inexpensive and now I’m able to switch up the artwork seasonally. I couldn’t find a picture ledge the proper length so, I mounted 3 smaller ones together.
From the stunning Marien Devine Warrior original I picked up my color story. Isn’t it stunning! My sister is the lucky owner of it, but until she gets it framed she told me I could enjoy it for a bit.
Another way to refresh your bedroom is to swap out your pillows! I kept the pink and white striped pillows (similar here) and then added some green ones (similar here) to bring out the green from the artwork. Then my Paige Gemmel elephant pillow worked perfectly tying in all of the colors in the space.
Third way to easily refresh your bedroom is swapping out your nightstand lamps. Now I have a lamp problem so, I always have a lot of them around and tend to move them around anyway. These orange lamps (similar here) were the perfect shade of orange and make me feel so happy! It’s so fun to go bold!
Last way to refresh your bedroom is to switch out your bedding! I’m a loyal customer to Crane & Canopy and have been for many years now. I love the style and quality and their customer service is simply the best. I haven’t strayed from their products in years. I love their Linden collection, because it’s the perfect classic duvet that goes with everything and it comes in an array of colors for the contrasting border. When the French blue color way came out I knew it needed to be my next duvet! Luckily for me they were nice enough to send me the bedding in the new colorway to test it out.
The french blue picked up a blue shade in the elephant lumbar pillow, but I still missing something in the light green/blue family to pick up the color in the wall stripe. So instead of getting a matching euro sham color I switched things up and got the Elsie polka dot euro sham in porcelain green.
Now I just need a new pair of pj’s like these amazing palm leaf ones to complete the refresh!
Turns out I’m not the only fan of doing bedroom refreshes! I have some sweet blog friends that did the same thing!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
