My parents swear that I have been to Coney Island, but I have zero recollection of it. I have always been intrigued by it and have visions of it from movies…hello Uptown Girls and this weekend I got to experience it as an adult! I’m not one for rides because I’m a big chicken, but I do love a good boardwalk, funnel cake, the beach and all of the pretty colors on the rides. On Saturday it was pretty overcast and low 70’s, which seemed like perfect weather to go try out Coney Island. I didn’t want to deal with kids that were over heated and crowds. I mentioned the idea to Jon and he equally into it! Off we went!
Now I have been to the Jersey Shore/Boardwalk and I wasn’t a huge fan, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I fell head over heels for Coney Island. Many of the big rides have been there for 90 years so it has this amazing nostalgic feel to it. It’s also full of color, which you know I love! I would love to do a family photo shoot there.
I could have taken thousands of pictures. It’s seriously all eye candy!
We passed by this cute restaurant called Paul’s Daughter. It looked really cute with lots of food options, but we figured you can’t go to Coney Island and not head to Nathan’s!
We went all in and added bacon and cheese to pretty much everything!
Next up was rides! The boardwalk has three massive sections of amusement parks and the park in the middle is full of just kiddie rides! That is the area we focused on and of course the boys were immediately lured in by this fishing game!
We had to play a couple of rounds to get prizes for both of them.
The kiddie rides section is full of rides that both of the boys could ride. Asher tends to be the dare devil and asked to go on the small rollercoaster they have. Hudson is like his momma and the more adventurous ride terrify him. The carousel was a big hit for both of them.
For this crazy ride you actually had to lay down and super man it when you rode it. No, thank you!
The Cyclone is a wooden rollercoaster that has been there for 90 years!
The boys had the eye on the prize when it came to cotton candy! We finally got them to eat dinner with the promise of cotton candy for dessert!
When we done checking out all of the rides and games we walked down the boardwalk to check out the Pier and admire the view!
The best part of the day? There was no complaining, no crying, no fights and we got an actual photo where everyone was looking at the camera!
We really wanted to stay until the lights went on and we managed to do that, but since it doesn’t get dark until after 8pm now we couldn’t see it in all it’s glory! We will have to make a return visit. They do fireworks on Friday night at 9:30pm during the summer months!
Have you been to Rye Playland? It’s celebrating its 90th year and also has a nostalgic feel. There is a great Kiddyland and since you’re not into rides, you and Jon can buy spectator bracelets which are very reasonable. Less urban obviously, but similar type of park.

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]

I have driven past, but have never been! I’m going to have to check it out! Thanks for the tip!
