I was so excited when I received an email from two of my favorite color loving bloggers turned friends! Jennifer from Dimples & Tangles and Rachel from Pencil Shavings Studio came up with the idea of hosting a blog hop featuring colorful Christmas tours! I was happy and excited to be a part of it! If you are coming over from Monica Wants It then welcome! Isn’t Monica amazing! I love everything she does and how her pops of color are always paired with glam accents! She tackles chinoiserie design is such a fun way! Make sure to check out the schedule at the end of the post to see the rest of the line up for the week!
My home away from home is my studio! Last year I wasn’t in the space in time for Christmas, but this year I was excited to get a tree and really dress it up for the holidays. I’m lucky enough to have a space where I can put a tree, a little dining area and a bar cart set up. Everyone that has seen it, says it makes them feel immediately happy! Isn’t that lovely! We could all use a little more happy and I’m happy that I’m able to design spaces that help people get happy!
The first item I purchased for the space was the colorful Christmas tree! I originally wanted pink, because who wouldn’t, but then I found this purple Christmas tree that went perfectly with the orchid purple cabinets in the space. Plus it was only $39.99 for a 6ft tree instead of a couple hundred for the pink beauty I wanted.
I went into my craft closet and found disco ball strand lights that I bought last year because I figured at some point I would need them.
Then I added garland I had picked up last year during after Christmas sales. Similar ones can be found here and here. Then I made pom poms with my pom pom making tool. It was super easy to make and I simply placed them in between branches.
I found super cute striped wrapping paper at Target that worked perfectly with my scheme! No, tree skirt needed. I just used cute faux sheepskin rugs from Ikea. I move them around and have used them on chairs, tables and now on trees!
In front of the tree area is a little dining nook that I typically use for client meetings. I found this vintage faux bamboo settee a couple of years ago on craigslist and I had to have it! I painted it a pop of blue and then got the cushion covered in colorful striped fabric by Kate Spade for Kravet.
I had the prettiest pillows made for the settee. The fabric reminded me of the three wise men so, it felt fitting for Christmas decor! I backed them in this diagonal plaid fabric and used beaded pom pom trim for piping!
The back of the pillow:
Plus a close up of that beautiful beaded pom pom trim! Ready made pillows with tassel trim available here.
I dressed up the table in pink and green fabrics for a preppy and happy vibe and then added a cute colorful runner I picked up from Target’s dollar spot. Fabrics were a find from a thrift store. I always pick up random yardage of fabrics when I love the colors. They always come in handy.
My dressed up thrift store mercury glass Christmas trees were the perfect centerpiece!
I set up a little hot cocoa station in the bar cart and swapped out the mirror that is normally there for this happy Llama print. It was an impulse purchase from HomeGoods, when I found it in the clearance section and gave it a home!
I used my DIY felt Christmas trees to dress up the bar cart and added cute mugs plus peppermint marshmallows to dress up your hot cocoa!
Went to Trader Joes and picked my these adorable present chocolate mousse treats. They are so good!
It’s the perfect spot to pour yourself some hot chocolate, add a marshmallow stirrer and take a fun picture or two on the colorful backdrop!
I’m ready for the holiday celebrations to begin!
Now grab your cup of cocoa and head over to check out my pal, Jennifer from Dimples & Tangles colorful Christmas tour. I have been friends with Jennifer for years now! We both started blogging around the same time and were in the same blogging circle. I adore her style in fashion and interiors. We both love bold pink, emerald green, and all the leopard print! Her home is one of my personal favorites and I know that one day soon I will get to see it all in person! I need a trip to Oklahoma!
Check out everyone else on the hop today and follow along for the rest of the line up this week!
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
