This past weekend we headed out east to spend the weekend at Jon’s parents’ house. We wanted it to be a relaxing weekend with most of our time spent in the pool, but I had just heard of the North Fork Sunflower Maze at Sidor Farms and needed to see it! My sister mentioned it to me and it sounded right up my alley! A bright and colorful farm filled with beautiful flowers! Can you imagine all of the photos! We had to go! An additional perk of the sunflower maze is that its part of Sidor Farms, which is the farm that runs North Fork Chips. So, not only did I get some amazing photos, but I was able to snack on their cheddar and onion chips. They were delicious! The chips are made from potatoes grown on Long Island and then kettle cooked in sunflower oil. The farm harvests the sunflowers that are used for oil making not the traditional cut flower version. The goal is to be able to harvest oil from their own crop of sunflowers, but they have had some issues with too much rain and wildlife that has enjoyed feasting on them. Hopefully, they will perfect their technique and start using their flowers for the oil soon.
The north fork sunflower maze is open from 9am to sunset daily! The fee for adults is $7 and children under 12 are free.
Isn’t it pretty?
The fields are beautiful and expansive! We went on a busy Saturday, but it didn’t feel packed at all. Lots of fields for everyone to explore and take photos.
I had to take a picture or two or three!
They had cute wicker and wire chairs along with wooden benches sprinkled throughout for photo ops.
I couldn’t stop taking photos. The flowers are just so pretty and happy. They have facts about them sprinkled throughout the maze so it was nice to learn more about sunflowers. Did you that in 2012 an astronaut grew a sunflower in the International Space Center!
The maze is full of butterflies and bees buzzing all about. The boys were a little nervous about the bees, but honestly, all they care about are the flowers. They let you get super close and don’t bother any of the humans.
Make sure you bring some sunflowers home with you on the way out.
We also picked up some of their North Fork Chips for home and they were delicious!
You can find the sunflower maze at: 8632 Wickham Ave., Mattituck. If you are local to NYC/Long Island than make sure you go and check it out!

My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
Fall is the perfect season to host an outdoor movie night in your backyard! It’s that time of year when outdoor furniture is still outside and it gets dark earlier than the summer which means your little kiddos can enjoy the movie night as well. It’s so nice to transform your backyard with cozy blankets, […]
Can you believe it’s already November? Before we know it Thanks No. 1 Modern bar cart with patterned sides that looks great as is, but would also look amazing painted a pop of color! Plus it’s only $157. No. 2 This lucite bar cart is a personal favorite of mine. Look at those chic lines! […]
For the longest time our backyard was mainly just grass and a little small area where we laid down some pavers so that we could set out a little plastic table/chairs during the summer. Not exactly ideal for entertaining. For the past couple of years we have wanted to build a deck and enjoy the […]
