Fall is in the air and while I don’t enjoy anything pumpkin related when it comes to food I do adore the color and shape!!! I’m not a huge seasonal decorator. I tend to go a bit nuts around Christmas time, but I don’t do a lot of swapping out of items throughout the year. However, my boys really enjoy all of the holidays and seasonal changes and they like to see me get the house done up for different occasions. Typically seasonal decor for the fall is a lot of farmhouse style and warm colors. Now, I’m all about the color and enjoy it when other people have farmhouse style, but it’s not for my home. I like things a bit more colorful and patterned filled. So, during fall I like to embrace the oranges, hot pinks, plums, purples, and shades of blue. A big thank you to Jennifer from Dimples & Tangles and Jewel from Jeweled Interiors for inviting me to be a part of their, It’s A Colorful Life Fall Home Tour!!!!!
Last year I made this adorable DIY colorful pumpkin wreath and this year as soon as October hit I got it out once again!
Moving into the house I decided to take a dresser that currently houses anything school related for the boys and remove all of the books that were on top of it and have fun with a pumpkin display! I didn’t want to just have pumpkins out so I paired with my blue and white collection. Something about those blue and white ginger jars that make me think of fall. They pair so nicely with orange. I love to collect the blue and white pieces whether they are small bowls, ginger jars, vases, etc. I always pick them up when I see them at thrift stores.
I did a mix of velvet pumpkins, real painted pumpkins, and painted skulls for a little dose of Halloween! I also got creative with placement and placed bowls upside down to get a flat surface for my little pumpkins. I even stacked some vases on top of bowls to get extra height!
Moving along I decided to dress up my dining room and show it a little fall love. I think this look is a great inspiration for Thanksgiving! For those new readers, I’m currently living with my parents while we renovate our new home. I’m lucky my parents let me use their house as their design lab! I found this massive suzani while thrifting a couple of weeks ago and at $6.50 I knew it had to come home with me! It was in perfect condition! It is nowhere near a true vintage suzani, but a nice reproduction that I can use at a tablecloth and not feel bad about wine spilling on it. I use the colors in the suzani to inspire my floral color palette. After a quick trip to Trader Joe’s, I came home with lilac roses, hot pink gerber daisies, orange mums, burgundy mums, and the prettiest pink dahlias! I like to make a centerpiece that stretches most of the table length and I was able to accomplish that with one large floral arrangement, 2 small rectangular arrangements, and then a sprinkling of mini pumpkins in between.
I went through my parents’ china cabinet and found some candlestick holders and an array of candles! Hot pink ones were perfect for this tablescape and helped add length to my dining table.
The View from the top! An excellent movie and one of my favorite shots to take when I’m working on a tablescape. Please tell me you have all seen, A View from the Top with one Ms. Gweneth Paltrow and Marc Ruffalo and so many more stars! Totally in my top 10 of movies.
I found the cute little pumpkins in a mix of orange and white at Target. Not sure if they were priced correctly but a bag of about 7 was only $3.99.

Dimples and Tangles: Tour Wrap-Up
My living room is one of the rooms that evolved drastically from when we first moved one. Originally I painted the walls chocolate brown and did accents of white, blue and orange. That lasted maybe 2 years.
Our dining room sat empty for months. Okay maybe it was empty for just a handful of weeks and then we couldn’t take it anymore and put in a folding table and plastic outdoor chairs, but in my mind that was still empty.
On the main floor of our house we have a Florida room. Being that it’s a Florida room it is a considered a 3 season room, because there is no heat in the room. The previous owners used it as an indoor patio with outdoor furniture and it looked like this when we moved in.
In our new home, the basement was completely unfinished. It was literally one of those dark spaces that you see in horror movies and are terrified of getting locked into. However, with the square footage in this house, I knew I needed to make the basement another workable and liveable floor of the house instead […]
What to look for when it comes to picking out kitchen appliances: Leave room in your budget for appliances. When it comes to kitchen renovations everyone knows that the cabinetry and the labor of demoing and installing cabinetry is going to eat a lot of your budget. However, the second most expensive part of a […]
I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that designing a kitchen is an overwhelming undertaking. I’m an interior designer and even I find it stressful to iron out all of those details. So, when it comes time to design a kitchen I always like to partner with a kitchen designer to make sure I’m remembering […]
