I’ve been in complete envy of these walls for months now:
The beautiful wallpaper is designed by artist Karla Davison and can be purchased via Black Crow Studios. I’ve never even sourced out the price, but it just seems totally out of my reach. Wallpaper is always pricey and then add to it the fact that it’s hand-painted and I’m certain this paper is only in my dream paper.
Yesterday I was sourcing fabric for clients and found the perfect item to create the look for less!
I had always known about Batik fabric, but to be honest I had never given it much thought. Yesterday I actually played around with samples and saw how beautiful they actually where. They are a great ethnic style fabric that comes in many shades and patterns and would work in a variety of design styles. If you are getting tired of seeing ikat and suzani patterns everywhere then Batik is your new best friend. I was delighted to find a pattern that looked like a watercolor and immediately thought of my dream wallpaper and new it was a perfect look for lee. Plus it would be great to apply it directly to your walls with starch and be able to remove it when/if you tired of the look with no problems.
You can find Batik fabrics in any fabric store, but my picks are all available at Connecting Threads.
Now I just need to convince Jon that I must do this to some room in my house or get a chic client that thinks it’s as cool as me. Fingers crossed for a client that loves this look, because I have a feeling the mister is going to give me a thumbs down on this one.

This fabric is fabulous! I totally want to see you do this. Good luck with the hubby.
Goergeous! So haute.
That second picture is magical- those walls are so pretty!
holy moly that is sooo amazing!
Wow – how beautiful! I never would have thought about using batik fabric but what a great idea
Gorgeous. I’ve been thinking of ikat fabric for a pair of chairs flanking my entry, but I think that Batik is my new front runner. Thanks for the resource!
ohhhhh… that wallpaper kills me!!! don’t they make wallpaper you can paint/draw/whatever you want on?? that might be my best option for this. i don’t think the scale of the batik will do it for me… but they do have that watercolor marbleized thing going on that i love so much!!
so I was over there yesterday drooling over those walls! and grooving, they have a great bit of music on that site, no?!!
ooooo I am enamored. I would love to get some big canvases and have an artsy friend take some water colors to it to hang on my walls. It would be sort of similar right?
I love the watery appearance of the wallpaper and fabrics. My husband would veto this one, too. He would be okay with fabric on canvas as art. May have to try this one out.
May have to steal this idea when I get tired of the “wallpaper” I painted in my hallway…
Wow, these are amazing!
omg i cannot multitask. can’t talk to my son DEREK and comment at the same time. I HAVE TEENAGERS @@
Fabulous, just fabulous. The watercolor walls are new to me and I adore them.
Love the fabrics too.
